Botox in the Dental Office

We keep your oral health and the overall appearance of your smile at the top of our priority list.

What Are the Possible Botox Treatments?

With Botox, many new pain, muscular and jaw treatments are available to add to an existing treatment plan or as an alternative. These include:

  • Facial Esthetics: Botox removes wrinkles in the forehead, as well as frown lines and crows feet. If treated early in life, large deep crevices can be prevented.
  • TMJ Treatment: Some patients with Temporal Mandibular Joint Disorder can benefit from the muscular relaxing aspects of Botox because much of the pain associated with TMJ is due to muscular hyperactivity.
  • Gummy smile: Botox can relax the lip muscles temporarily, reducing a high lip line to help reduce a gummy smile without surgery or crown lengthening. This is a great alternative for patients who do not want such an intense treatment as surgery.
  • Bruxism or clenching: This can be treated with Botox through minimizing the force of the muscular contracting involved in both disorders.

Dentists are highly trained in facial anatomy and physiology, making them prime candidates for working with Botox application. As Botox makes its way into mainstream dental offices, the uses will undoubtedly expand.
